Read text aloud with the voices on your device. Choose the voice, speed and pitch, then play, pause and stop. Free and private.
No voices were found yet. They may still be loading. If this stays empty, your device has no voices installed.
Changes to the voice and speed apply the next time you press Play.
The voices come from your own device and browser, so they differ from one device to another. Your browser reads the text aloud, but it cannot save it as an audio file.
NinjaFunction's Text to Speech reads any text aloud using the speech voices that are built into your browser and device. Choose a voice from a list grouped by language, set the speed, pitch and volume, and use Play, Pause and Stop. Long text is read in short parts so the browser does not stop partway. Voices marked online may send the text to your browser's speech service. This website never receives your text, and the speech cannot be saved as an audio file.
| Control | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Voice | Who reads the text, and in which language and accent |
| Speed | How fast the voice speaks, from 0.5× (slow) to 2× (fast) |
| Pitch | How high or low the voice sounds |
| Volume | How loud the voice is, on top of your device volume |
It uses the speech feature that is built into your browser. The browser reads the words aloud with a voice that is already on your device or offered by your browser. We do not make the voice, and we do not store your text.
No. Browsers can read text aloud, but they do not let a web page record or save that sound. If you need an audio file, you need a tool that creates the audio on a server, or you can record your computer's sound output with a recorder.
The voices come from your device and browser, such as Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Chrome or Safari. Each one offers its own list, in different languages and qualities.
Some browsers offer voices that run on the browser maker's servers. Using one may send your text to that service so it can be read aloud. Voices without the online label run on your device. Choose a device voice for private text.
Voices can take a moment to load, so wait a few seconds. If the list stays empty, your device has no voices installed. You can add some in your device's language and accessibility settings.
Some browsers stop reading very long text. To avoid that, the tool splits your text into short parts at the end of sentences and reads them one after another. You will not hear a gap in most voices.
No. This website does not receive your text. The only exception is an online voice, which your browser may send to its own speech service, as explained above.
