Your file stays on your device. It is compressed in your browser and never uploaded.
NinjaFunction's PDF Compressor makes a PDF smaller in your browser. The Recommended and Strong levels shrink the pictures inside the file and keep the text sharp and selectable. The Maximum level turns each page into a picture for the smallest file. You see the size before and after, and if the file cannot be made smaller you are told and given no bigger file. Your PDF is never uploaded.
| Level | What it does | Text stays selectable |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended | Shrinks pictures to a good quality | Yes |
| Strong | Smaller pictures, lower quality | Yes |
| Maximum | Turns every page into a picture | No |
No. The file is compressed inside your browser, so it stays on your device and nothing is sent or stored.
Most of the weight of a PDF is in its pictures. The Recommended and Strong levels shrink the JPEG pictures inside the file and keep everything else, so text stays sharp and selectable. The Maximum level turns every page into a picture, which gives the smallest file.
PDFs made mostly of text, or files that were already compressed, have little left to remove. The tool tells you when that happens and does not give you a bigger file.
Each page becomes a picture, so you can no longer select, copy or search the text, and links stop working. Use it for scans or when you only need to print or view the file.
The pictures are saved at a lower quality, which is how the size drops. Recommended is a good balance. Strong is smaller, and photos may look softer when you zoom in.
It depends on the file. A scan or a file with large photos can shrink by 50 to 90 percent. A text document may change very little.
The PDF can be up to 80 MB. Very large files take longer, because your own device does the work. A password protected PDF must be unlocked first.
Not at the moment. Compress one file at a time.
